Hide general information
What one perceives in first of a person is its face and this clothing. The consumer is very sensitive to the image, which the community perceives of it, therefore for this dressing prefers the products of high quality. Clothing keeps a social character. The aim of the project is to create clothing with high added value, returning a better image of that which carries it thanks to an always new aspect. Pilling is the accidental presence of small balls of fibres entangled with a link to the fabric by one or more fibres and gives to clothing an old and degrades aspect of low quality. An article with no pilling would have a new aspect much longer and would thus have an important commercial advantage. A high quality article of wool can be covered with pills and to have an aspect very degraded after only 3 days of wear. The industrialists are currently stripped; the phenomenon of pilling is not being controlled. The industrial objective is to create new products (high added value) to conquer shares of market to export on textile article of clothing. The application of the result of this study is very wide, all textile made of spinning yarns are susceptible to pill. The European production of wool fabric for garments is 243 137 tons (in 1996). The product of pullover in the CEE is 605 Million of pieces (in 1994), the clothing purchase is 190 000 Millions ECU in Europe (in 1996) and most of them are affected by the pilling. Today Europe imports is 43 000 Million ECU, and exports is 20 000 Million ECU. US clothing purchase is 180 000 Million ECU. Japan clothing purchase is 120 000 Million ECU. Our objective is thus to allow a gain of export of 12% in short time, it is an increase in European exports of 2 400 Million ECU. The technical objectives are - The realisation of a machine vision system for pilling quoting, 20 times more precise than the actual methods of quotation by an expert. - The realisation of pilling prediction software allowing bringing back to 0 the not quality rate due to the pilling. Currently the pilling corresponds to 5 % of the costs of not quality which rises between 7 and 14% of turnover, for the textile clothing firms it is a gain of 1 330 Millions ECU for Europe. - The realisation of an expert system of assistance to the development of the no pilling articles allowing a gain of a factor 50 on the number of tests to be carried out to obtain a no pilling article. - A better choice of the fibre blend, the adjustment of the spinning, weaving and knitting parameters, and finishing processing, can increase the resistance to pilling of textile garments. The causes of pilling are not well known and problem produce by pilling phenomenon is current. It is a real industrial problem as it proves by the great number of industrialists interest in this project. Our consortium gathers industrials very moved by this subject consisting in carrying out products of very high value. This partnership gathers all the textile process in Europe.
