Hide objective
The objective is to demonstrate solar photovoltaic systems that provide electricity, heating and cooling (polygeneration), integrated into the urban environment. The system is based on miniature solar collectors using concentrating photovoltaics technology developed jointly in Italy and Israel. Two types of collectors are included: Building-Integrated Spherical Collectors (BISC), and miniature parabolic dishes. Using the approaches of concentration and polygeneration these systems will achieve higher efficiency and significantly lower cost of energy. The demonstration system will illustrate the performance, technological, and financial benefits of solar polygeneration in buildings under field operating conditions, and aid the introduction of this technology into the energy market. Special attention will be given to aspects of integration with the building structure and with other utility systems in the building, to regulatory and safety issues, and to the operation method and user interface.
