However the electroplating solutions contain hexavalent chromium (Cr6+) which is becoming to be regarded as toxic and an environmental pollutant. The objectives of this project are to develop and demonstrate tne novel amorphous metal plating process which potentially gives very high wear and corrosion resistance and does not contain chromium. The project will also address the industrial aspects of substituting the new process into existing plating facilities in both technical and economic terms. Source : cordis
