PLASSYS is developping with M.E.S. microwave plasma ractors for the stripping of integrated circuits after etching for semi-conductor manufacturing. The equipment is not suitable for conventional organic compounds or other applications such as metal sterilisation. The project purpose consists to develop a new low cost equipment to become convenient to : - any pieces to be treated in short time : shaped ones rather than flat - materials such as polymers, composites, bio-materials. Objectives : research of a new microwave plasma generation and coupling dedicated to organic materials treated in small series as well as to metallic pieces such as surgical tools or prosthesis. Problems to solve : to produce and improve new microwave supplies, new protection means, microwave applicators, tuning and coupling with plasma in order to attain a reduced cost for conventional industries and hospital applications. End-user SME have been associated to make final tests and validation of the equipmpent (organic surface treatment) as well as an hospital market company to ensure the surgical tool marketing.
