To develop conditions of surface preparation for advanced techniques of soldering and adhering in electronic circuitry.
Hide general information
Field 1 : Investigation by today's analytical means of the nature of surface films on the metallic surfaces of substrates and electronic components , in a produced condition and after special cleaning treatments (etching, etc.). Field 2 : Development of conditions for soldering without leaving residues, thus avoiding solvent cleaning afterwards (for both wave soldering and reflow soldering). Field 3 : Development of long-lasting electrical connections using conductive adhesives on cleaned surfaces. Field 4 : Development of feasible and rapid methods for the assessment of cleanliness of surfaces.

The main objective of HS-COMPONENTS is to make available basic silicon components to home systems product manufacturers in order to enable them to design and market affordable home automation products and to demonstrate their practical use and availability, so accelerating the growth of the market. The designs will be aimed at the specification version 1.1 of project 5448, IIH.
Hide general information
Specific objectives are to: - develop enabling technologies and design rules for reliable and safe products, particularly relating to power control devices and protection technologies - design and develop key system element products, particularly for the physical media interface including power line, twisted pair and coax modems, together with a universal protocol device.

The objective of HS-CONFORM is to prepare for the establishment of conformance testing and product certification facilities for home systems products built to the Home Systems specification, now that the standard is becoming stable. The project will define the conformance test requirements and develop testing specifications, methods and protocols.
Hide general information
The certification will be handled by the European Home Systems Association (EHSA) and will lead to the development of a product interoperability and certification test service to assure the compatibility of components and products, as well as their interoperability in complete home systems. The work relies heavily on the conformance testing expertise already developed in other LAN/OSI projects.

The first objective of this project is to develop, validate, publish and disseminate a primary set of functional specifications for CIM Open Systems Architecture (CIM-OSA). This set will contain sufficient detail to serve as a foundation on which products could be developed, as well as enabling user operations to be structured according to CIM-OSA concepts and rules.
Hide achievements
The architecture description 1.0 is a step in the computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) open system architecture (OSA) definition. It is used to promote the CIM-OSA architecture within the standardisation bodies and by end users and designers to describe the current state of existing CIM applications and to implement future realisations. A prototype was made available on 01/12/93 This research describes a modelling method and language for process models during the system life cycle. Open system architecture for computer integrated manufacturing (CIM-OSA) supports model engineering and model execution for operation monitoring and operation control. A prototype was made available on 12/31/93
Hide general information
This CIM-OSA primary release will encompass the features essential for the support of enterprise-wide information use. The migration of existing applications will also be supported, and users will be able to implement CIM-OSA-based information systems. Validation of this primary set of functional specifications will be achieved through the use of prototypes and via the real operation of the relevant parts of CIM-OSA. Emphasis will be on business integration in the areas of product development, product planning and manufacturing. The integrating infrastructure will build on and use the upper layers of the ISO's OSI model. The promotion of CIM-OSA in standardisation will be undertaken. Standards proposals based upon CIM-OSA modelling and integrated infrastructure frameworks will also be submitted to the relevant organisations. The promotional aspects that began in the foundation project 688 (AMICE) will be continued and expanded. This project builds on ESPRIT projects 688 (AMICE) and 2422 (AMICE II/P).
