AEA is a global consulting firm, creating inspired solutions that solve complex issues in the areas of climate change, energy and environment. Our solutions are optimised by expert knowledge management and innovative IT.
We work with governments and businesses worldwide to address the challenges that they face, helping to transform the way they work through the creation of profitable and sustainable solutions. AEA's heritage stems from the energy and environmental sectors. The acquisition of US based Project Performance Corporation (PPC) in 2008 enhanced our capabilities, combining environmental expertise with IT and data management know-how. Our multi-disciplinary team of over 900 technical, specialist and management consultants, project management experts, information technology and marketing professionals enable us to deliver a range of fully integrated offerings for our customers, bringing together energy, environment and IT expertise and applying this in the business and organisational context of our clients. For nearly 40 years, AEA has helped hundreds of public and private sector organisations in the UK and overseas to respond to environmental challenges and opportunities created by worldwide drivers - energy and climate change, air and environmental quality, risk management and due diligence, resource efficiency and waste management, sustainable transport, innovation and knowledge transfer, and sustainability. AEA has been one of the UK Government’s top advisors on climate change issues for nearly four decades and over the last ten years we have helped UK business save over £2bn through resource efficiency programmes. We were the UK Government’s principal technical consultant for the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme and through the projects we manage have helped achieve a 3.1m tonne reduction in CO2 emissions. AEA is also responsible for developing the Public Procurement Report for the the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), which is regarded as the "golden standard for carbon reporting". |

The proposed project aims to improve methods for the calculation of natural and biogenic emissionsfrom various sources and the assessment of impacts on air quality policy implementation. Airpollutants from natural und biogenic sources contribute to ambie nt air concentrations in the same wayas anthropogenic emissions, however, the knowledge about the uncertainty of current methods for theestimation of these natural and biogenic emissions is vast. At the same time, with anthropogenicemissions currently de creasing due to emission control activities in many sectors, the relative importance of other sources increases. Thus, it is essential to develop new and improve existingmethods for the quantification of emissions from natural and biogenic sources. The pro posal takes into account the latest research results on air pollutant emissions and theirimpacts, covering all relevant substances {NOX, SOX, NH3, PM, NMVOC; CH4, CO, DMS) from naturaland biogenic sources in Europe, e.g. the results from the "Nature Panel " of the EMEP/CORINAIRAtmospheric Emission Guidebook and includes anthropogenic emissions officially reported to EMEPby countries. Furthermore, the National Reports for the NEC directive for SOX, NOX, NH3 and NMVOC will be taken into account, as well as, the results of ED research project such as NOFRETETE or theresults from the EUROTRAC Subproject GENEMIS. As a major innovation, satellite data are used e.g.for the improvement of calculations from forests in general as well as forest fires in particular . In orderto assess the impacts of emissions from natural and biogenic sources on air quality policyimplementation, the project is designed to advance the current state-of-the-art in methododology forthe calculation of natural and biogenic emissions. Aft er the analysis of temporal and spatial variabilitiesand the assessment of uncertainties and sensitivities, some test cases on EU and local scale will be modelled

This project is designed to manage and implement the dissemination of the Transport RTD programme. The project uses a comprehensive and strategic approach to target specific audiences in the EU and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC), with carefully selected cost effective dissemination tools. % The detailed objectives of this Information Dissemination project are to: - deliver a planned dissemination programme to maximise the impact of the RTD results on the target audiences; - ensure that the Transport programme RTD results reach the target audiences to give the best possible progress against overall programme aimes; - provide cost effective dissemination tools which maximise the impact of the dissemination information; - provide the EC with evaluation and feedback on dissemination effectiveness; - build upon the benefits of lessons learnt from disseminating other RTD programmes. The project and the consortium have been defined to meet these objectives through the following features: - a Dissemination Steering Committee (DSC) which brings together extensive dissemination experience to plan, implement and monitor the dissemination programme; - a Programme Analysis Group (PAG) which will use consortium experience across the technical disciplines to analyse RTD results for input to dissemination; - the main partners' experience in dissemination which will ensure delivery of cost-effective dissemination tools. The use of a network of Associate Contractors and Subcontractors which cover the EU and CEEC for local delivery will give an efficient organisation; - the delivery and collection of feedback which will utilise the consortium's Transport dissemination network to evaluate impact, help DGVII, refine strategy and demonstrate meeting objectives.
